![]() Uploading custom content to The Sims 3 is time consuming with a higher risk of incompatibility. The Sims 4 boasts a much more accepting platform for third-party custom content as well. Meanwhile, The Sims 4 has a much more user-friendly community through the game itself (eliminating the need to close your game to load new content). There is even a Sims 3 online store and community where SimsPoints can be purchased to buy possibly hundreds of individual additional content such as hair, clothing, interactive objects, and even entire worlds. In addition, The Sims 3 released expansion and stuff packs that delivered a lot more “bang for your buck”. While The Sims 3 offered enough of content to keep your busy for hours and hours, The Sims 4 felt and sometimes still feels a little unfinished. Not only did The Sims 3 basegame have more content by default, but The Sims 4 basegame didn’t offer some of the staple features such as pools, toddlers, and cars (all of which are highly controversial topics in the community). When comparing content, The Sims 3 trumps The Sims 4 any day, in my opinion. While The Sims 3 looked to be edging towards a more realistic vibe, The Sims 4 embraced brighter colors and a more cartoon-like style that balanced detail with reduced textures. The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 definitely have contrasting graphic styles. However, in comparison, The Sims 4 has smoother and more details clothes, environmental objects and more. For its time, The Sims 3 had pretty great graphics (at least that’s what my 13 year-old self thought ?). There is a wide 5-year gap between these two video game titles, so a disparity between graphic quality is expected. Right off the bat, The Sims 4 delivers better quality graphics to the world of simulation. The biggest differences between The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 would include graphics quality, content quantity, game performance and story progression. However, there are many other pros and cons to The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 that can help you decide which to buy or which to play (if you have both and just can’t decide ?). However, if you value graphics and smooth gameplay, Sims 4 is definitely the best option. In general, if you’re looking for more content-laden gameplay, Sims 3 is the best choice. Ultimately, if we are to attempt an answer to this question, I would have to say “it depends”. Lets be real, when you delve into comparing these two super enjoyable video games, these fan-favorites are amazing in their own right. It's fun to play on this world as a scientist or even as an Alien. Before I start a “Hatfield and McCoy” situation over whether Sims 3 or Sims 4 is better, let me just say–both Sims 3 and Sims 4 have their own unique features and benefits ?. The only problem is that it does not accommodate normal gameplay and play also becomes quite boring after while. Lunar Lakes: This would probably come in 6th place. The world is beautiful from just looking at it but actually playing in it is quite annoying. Even normal sim jobs seemed out of place. There is not much to do in the medieval sense and normal sim cars and taxi's looked out of place. I was looking forward to creating my own Daenerys Targaryen and having dragons but the dragons were so disappointing and only had a few features. I love medieval themes and dragons but this did no justice to the theme. This world disapointed in many ways.ĭragon Valley: In my opinion the worst world. The second being the ugly snow problem (see the Sims 3 forums). The first being how the houses look incomplete and like toy houses from mapview. I was very excited about having the auroras appear in the sky every night but the lights are barely visible and there are many design flaws with this world. The premium content, the hot air balloon, seemed exciting at first but was disappointing and only lifted a short distance off the ground. It's not that horrifying and I do occasionally play in it but it isn't worth the amount being asked for it.Īurora Skies: A good concept when first heard about. There was no new premium content and many felt this was a waste of money. ![]() It just had a beachfront and pirate themed items, sims and houses. It's too normal for my liking and I don't play in it anymore.īarnacle Bay: This world was pretty bad in the views of many. The houses feel squashed and I don't like the sims living in it (except Liam O' Dourke). It's beautifully designed and had premium content in the form of the fountain of youth but I just didn't like the world. Hidden Springs: You probably expected this world to be there. I loved the feel of the world and still use it whenever I have gardener or farming sims. This was just Sunset Valley in a different form. Riverview: This was the first Sims 3 store world and was completely free upon registration of the base game.
